I'm hoping other people have run into this problem, and know the solution.

I ran Dante's Inferno through 360wavespatcher and patched it to wave 3. I extracted the SystemUpdate folder, just like the tutorial thread here said to do. Burnt at 2.4x via imgburn onto a Verbatim disk.

Obviously it asks to update when I try to play it, but it's stuck in the update loop. Now the problem, I can't get the console to update via usb or cd. I've tried the SystemUpdate folder in s-dante.iso, I've tried the fall update from xbox.com, nothing seems to work, the disc keeps asking for an update.

My console was already at 2.0.8955 dash, it had been banned in November but I uncrippled the hdd installs.

And now my avatar is blanked out.. when I try to go into "Customize Avatar" it tells me an update is required from xbox live...

Did anyone else run into this problem? If not, I'll have to burn the iso as normal and use the activate.iso disk. I'm still totally confused as to why the avatars are gone though.
