3 RROD after short circuit maybe??

ok the console was working perfectly i replaced the x clamps (no flexing in the MB what so ever. and it never had RROD. but the DVD tray was stuck so i took it apart to fix it and after fixing the dvd drive i hooked up the dvd to see if it works and instantly i get RROD, in the dvd i only messed with the gears and the belt. but then i realised the little metal pieces on the side of the cage where the dvd drive go is missing and when i flipped the MB the piece fell form it, so i'm guessing thats probably what caused it, so any to to see what got short circuited i dont see any burnt components

so it played ok with the x-clamp fix until you messed with the dvd drive? It is certainly possible that piece could have shorted something. What's your secondary error code?

Before going through all that if the code is 0001 try unplugging the power supply from the xbox and wall for a minute and back in. If still rrod make sure the gpu heatsink isn't touching a resistor (0003, 0031)

Could also be that you actually had cold solder joints on your GPU/CPu they just hadn't cracked yet. When you removed the xclamps, your board would then be flat so you may need a reflow to sort it. Take a look at w0llys sig to fix.
