I have a XBox with a broken Hitachi 0059 drive. It has the open tray error. But I'm not searching for help on that subject (if anybody knows how to fix it, drop me a pm :) )
I also have a spare Samsung MS25 drive which I want to use as a replacement.
I flashed it using Iprep 101 v006.1 and the ixDef for 1.61. My SATAchipset is the VIA VT8237
But then the XBox just gives me one red light (the lower left one) and the screen says E65 error which usually means wrong firmware. Also the drive won't open. Not on this XBox, not on another one, that I have lying around
the best way i used to flash a sammy was dosflash, its the easiest i found aswell, just drop them onto the root of a usb bootable from windows 98 files, type dosflash to run, then the drive should come up, get passed the vendor and read the data, then use a firmware with make firmware command with the key just took from the drive, and reflash using the same method but write instead of read, when you create the firmware it will ask you about spoofing as it will detect the key is from a hitachi.
@tez90: Thanks alot, but I think I'm fine with iPrep - I spent alot of time to get into the program.
Or could iPrep be the source of the problem I have?
