I have tried to eliminate every possible cause, so know i want to know if i can be sure the dvd key is wrong.
When i first got the console i tried laser cleaning and pot tweaking to see if it made a difference(nothing so i went on)
I then switched drive circuit boards to a known working one i had laying around(both samsung ms28's) But still TO PLAY THIS DISK blah blah blah
I then hooked it up to jungle flasher to check for and dump the key, It had 1.6 on it and a key was present so .. I dumped and re flashed with 1.51 but still received the same error..
Can i know be sure the key is wrong and the previous flasher f**ked up????????
The reason i ask is that the seller stated in the listing that the console loads games somtimes --->
THE CONSOLE WORKS FINE BUT DOES NOT PLAY GAMES, MOST OF THE TIME IT COMES UP WITH AN ERROR SAYING 'PLAY DVD' BUT DOES PLAY THE RARE GAME NOW AND THEN."
The PCB of the DVD drive has the DVD key stored on it. When you swapped the PCB, you swapped the drive key. Since the drive key must match the key stored on the motherboard, it isn't working.
Swap back to the original PCB and dump the key again.
Are the games you are trying to load wave 4 games by any chance? If so, you need a special activator disc to play those at this point.
Also, does it do this for originals as well, or only backups? Will it play a DVD?
It's a possibility that the previous person who flashed it flashed the wrong key onto it. However, that usually results in a 'Play DVD' error.
If it does play DVDs, but nothing else, you can be pretty sure that it is the drive key, as I don't believe you need the drive key to be present in order to play a DVD.
