you will get boards that will not come to life,,i use to try a least 2 times,,after that just leave them,,and if per chance you do decide to invest in a reflow station,,keep the boards off to one side,,and then try them again,,with the station,,things will get better then,,,

@ coorva, I use my glorified aoyue heatgun with its little knobbies and little special attachments sometimes. Sometimes, I just hole up the Wagner and BLAM, one switch, w/low and high heat work great!
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

wagner,,,na,,my black and decker kicked ass,,my Aoyue 968,,really kicks ass,,but i find im getting lazy with it,,i dont have to hold the heat gun anymore,,just push power on push a few buttons and start drinking,,assemble the xbox back together and start playing,,and drink somemore,,lifes good,,cheers

ok i did heat gun one more time and applied new thermal paste, now i get error 0021 with 3 red lights then after about 10 seconds i get error 0012 with 2 red lights. what should i do?

well 0012 is overheating so something is wrong with your x-clamp replacement. 0021 is probably the worse error though because it's a bridged solder joint or short somewhere. Basically means it's fried.

ok man your really driving yourself insane,like members say some boards will work with heat guns other will not,please put the gun down step away from the xbox and get some rest,your best best is a reflow trust us (not with the heat gun),do what i do,i have a binder of wab's forum where he posted up the codes printed out that way i dont have to come to the pc and check what code it is,and dont forget if your gonna do the gun again use flux

ok i think i have found the problem. there are 2 transistors missing fro th board, is there any way i can take them off one board and put them on another without a soldering iron? just got a heat gun
