I decided to post this as an idea for those who were in the same position as me. In between jobs right now so I don't have the measly $20 to buy the Xtractor setup to do the 93450 drives, so I was using the "homemade" style.

Credit goes to KP2 at EMS for the idea on the resistor pulldown

Well, I didn't have an extra dvd power cord and didn't want to solder to mine, in case a friend wanted his xbox done and I needed to use the MRA method again. So in order to get the 3.3V I was looking for alternative methods. I was looking at USB as my power source for its ease of access. Problem was USB uses 5V so I had to pull down to 3.3V. There are different ways to do this, a 3.3 Voltage regulator, which can be hard to get your hands on unless you order online. So going the quickest route I paid a visit to the local RadioShack.

What You Need:
Pack of 10k Ohm 1/2w resistors - Catalog #: 271-1126

SPDT OR DPDT Switch - This will be for preference, you only need a single pole but having a double pole doesn't hurt(or help) anything. They are usually the same price. I suggest Catalog #: 275-648 or Catalog #: 275-1555 . The push on/push off comes in handy as its easier to operate than a toggle switch.

18-20-22 Ohm Resistor - This is your choice, some people haven't had luck with 22 ohm and flashed first try with 18, others have had success with 22 ohm(me...for example).
22 Ohm - Catalog #: 271-1103
20 Ohm - I actually haven't seen these so you'd have to use two 10 ohm: Catalog #: 271-1101
18 Ohm - Again, haven't seen any of these, so using a 100 ohm and 22 ohm in parallel would work. 100 Ohm - Catalog #: 271-1108 22 Ohm - Catalog #: 271-1103

Now to wire, just follow the diagram.

With this you eliminate the need to solder a ground on the board, as well as soldering for the 3.3V power. If you make a separate pin coming off of the 3.3V, you can also eliminate the jumper going from the top trace to the bottom trace(if you've seen pictures you know the one I'm talking about).

Now follow the guide of your choosing to continue with the flash!

Really? No one thinks this is a good idea but me?
