Anyone heard a rumour about hidden updates on Black Ops?

A mate was telling me last night on Live that he's heard about hidden updates on COD BO that seem to trigger themselves, without being connected to Live, since the last update. Not sure if he meant the dash or the XGD3 games.
It makes no sense to me and it's the only time I've heard that, sounds like BS but told him I'd ask the masters on here if anyone had heard anything like that.
He's completely legit and has never modded a console in his life but he heard it from a friend that does so was letting me know just in case (he doesn't care that people do dodgey stuff, just prefers to stay legal) The dude he heard it from is usually pretty cluey and is a FREAK at FPS but, he does smoke a lot of tijuana cigarettes..... :)

What is he claiming that the updates do?
I don't see any reason to believe this given the source. Not that it's definitely 100% false, but if there was any truth to it we'd know about it from a reliable source.

OMG!!!! My copy of Black Ops just updated my Atari 2600 into a full-fledged Super Nintendo that runs Windows 8½, on Tuesdays Wednesdays & Fridays, at night.
And I didn't even have an Atari to begin with. It created the Atari, and commenced to update!!
No wonder all the magazines gave the game high ratings and scores!

Maybe he was talking about AP2.5/AP2.6 as Black Ops has that and it can flag your console even if you're offline.

Yeah possibly, apparently he was talkin specifically bout content on the disc that does an actual update, not just the old ap flag. no one else in the know has heard anything like it though so sounds like rubbish. too many pipes and dreamed it up i think. cheers though dude.

My Xbox360 was running the pre-nxe for the longest time, and was disconnected from live because I didn't want any more updates.
I rented brink a while ago and it updated as it always does for new games, but when the update finished and the xbox rebooted, i was welcomed with the NXE environment.
So I don't know about CODBO software updates, as far as I know there's definitely one on brink.
