hello i know we've all been discussing the recent ap2.5 but i've done a search and nothing that i've found has answered my question.

so here's my question if anyone has an answer. I played NFS it didn't boot cause of ap2.5 but i didn't use my live account it was an offline account and i was not logged in online.
does that still flag my xbox for a ban?

thanks

From what I gather, the AP25 challenge that fails, puts a possitive flag on the machine -- in a similar form as the Windows error log. I would think that this would be machine specific. Rather than profile specific. But I think this is all unverified at this point.

It doesn't matter if youre signed in to profile or live, if you tried to play backup and it is an ap2.5 title then I hate to say it but you're pretty much screwed. You can download a tool called xval and use it to confirmed this. Xval will tell you if you're flagged or not. There are said to be a few ways around resetting flag if you haven't signed in to live. Cant tell you a whole lot about them, I believe you have to have a backup of youre nand which it is highly unlikely that you do. But for what its worth you can search google for trying to clear flagged xval.

Unless it actually played. Then there's no flag.

That's not true. Part of the point of AP2.5 is to prevent you from playing pirated games. Games that are protected with AP2.5 throw up a "This disc is unreadable" error message when you try and boot them, and at that point your console is flagged. I know this for sure, as I was one of the first people to be hit by it when Fable 3 came out. It wouldn't boot on my console, but it triggered the "failed AP25 challenge" flag.

i wonder what other games have ap2.5. I just played NFS, and checked xval, its a fail. Haven't logged onto live or anything yet, my account hasn't been reactivated i might just stay off-line and not even worry about the ban hammer.

thanks for the info, will keep up to date with the threads see what will happen.

Right - and that's why my post states that it will flag, "unless it plays". Which means it's a Samsung or Hitachi -- that doesn't know how to negotiate the AP25 handshake.

[And the only way to play AP25 titles right now with a cracked drive.]

If you can't play the disk, the flag goes up. Which means you have a cracked drive that AP25 detected.

What youre saying makes no sense. "It only flags you if the game plays", well then everybody with a stock drive is in for the ban hammer cause it played for them. It doesn't play because you have hacked firmware. The only way to play ap2.5 is older hitachi drives and samsungs because they dont have ap2.5 built into them, and of course my method of playing jtag. Other than that as of right now there is no way to play ap 2.5. The only ap2.5 games right now are Assassins Creed, NFS, and Fable I believe.

How does this:

-------quote - paste------

Unless it actually played. Then there's no flag.

-------quote - snip ------

Mean to you that I am saying that it only flags you if the game plays. It means it flags you if you are unable to play the game. I don't know how to be any clearer. I am referring to hacked drives that are unable to play the game.

And I agree -- for me, without jtag, I am only able to play AP25 titles with my Hitachi 47 360.

Hey guys, just quick question, I have a BenQ and recently Update LT, got banned from xbox live a month ago (sux) anyways i tried to play NFS and showed me a message "This disc is unreadable".
I have been reading here and now i'm lost (probably don't understand) with the posts above, can someone tell me if i can be able to play NFS later on when they release LT+????
BTW is that possible that they can block my xbox so won't be usable at all????
Thanks
sorry for posting here, didn't want to start new thread

Currently, if you're playing backup AP25 titles with a modded drive, you will get the disk unreadable error as the AP25 finds the drive mod. Unless you have a Samsung, or older Hitachi drive, which bypasses the check.

In your case, I think you would have to wait for the new firmware to re flash your drive, once they come up with the fix.
