Just flashed my drive TS-H943A MS25 with ixtreme 1.61 and I wondering if this is all I need to do to back up games: hook up the drive to my PC, pop disk in to the drive and use Xbox Backup Creator (I know I need to use an older version 2.6?) to read from my disc then use Imgburn to copy the ISO on to disc.
I'm assuming that does all the extraction and patching of the secure sectors or whatever it is the SS stands for.
Will make up a tutorial with pics when I figure it out unless someone can direct me to one already made. Thanks

You need to get a spare 360 drive and flash it with iX 0800 FW and aside from XBC you can also use schtrom which I think is alot easier to use.

If your looking for one you need a TS-H943 or a BenQ one I think you can get both from www.ck3.co.uk under parts and spares I think, you may be able to use Liteon I'm not sure just know Hitachi LG's are no good for ripping. There are kreon flashed drives you can buy that will read the disc's Samsung drive I think, can't remember the product number off the top of my head. Ebay used to sell them not sure now.

I seen a guide saying Hitachi were deffinatly no good because they don't read the SS properly plus there is no 0800 firmware for them http://www.ixtreme.net/downloads/ixtreme...only-t244.html, I may be totally wrong but I think thats what I read.
I dont need a second drive, well not right away, as I can rip from the TS-H943 in my Xbox using 1.6 0800, then flash the drive again back to 1.61 and play games with it. I should really fork out for one of the kreon drives, only about £15 now, but I dont have that many games to back up.

Kreons defo dont capture the SSv2 bit, so I wouldn't recommend getting one of those. Think Im gonna try the Hitachi when I get home, I have one on my desk so I may as well try it for nowt.

Are you sure that kreons dont? Cause the newest xbc 2.9 doesn't offer support for 360 drives just kreon, or atleast that was the impression I got from the release notes. Why offer support for something that isn't as good. If you can get an image from the Hitachi and you dont get the SS then agbx360 does patching of the image so you could probably get it to work, but thats just a guess on my part. (Which I doubt is worth much)
Anyway I'm stuck waiting for some Verbaitum to arrive, got 5 discs in jewel cases for £7 of www.play.com which is the cheapest I have seen them, have been waiting 2 days fo them to be posted out though.

I'm sure 100% Kreons dont get this info, you have to patch it if you use a Kreon drive. The only way to get a true rip is via the XBOX dvd drive & 0800 firmware. Ill let you know about mode b & hitachi later tonight

Ok cool. Wonder why xbc 2.9 removed the 360 drive support then, probably because everyone patches games now anyway and how many people have spare 360 drives kicking about the place? Not that I'm bothered about Live particularly, but I think that using downloaded files to patch your games might make it easier for microsoft to guess you have a copied disc in the drive, just a thought. I think if you can get everything from the disc you need then its better and it's more inkeeping with the whole "backing up" rather then piracy arguement.

I agree with you here, which is why the only way to get a true backup is with a 360 drive. TBH, i do not rip my own games, i used to download them but ive got a crappy internet connection ATM so thats out of the question. Someone else maybe able to answer the who XBC issues.

I don't know if they will be any differant to rips I make of my own games might download a copy of one I own and do a comparrison just to see, subscribed to usenext so might as well use it I guess. I think im going to invest in a liteon drive for ripping just so I can have one hooked up to my pc save the hassle of taking the TS-H943 out everytime and reflashing it constantly, plus I said I would make a guide........
