Hi everyone, I hope you could help me with a problem I'm having currently. I just bought an ASUS ul80vt but unfortunately it doesn't come with a DL dvd. I bought a DL dvd drive from microcenter: model LG GH22NS40 and hooked it up via USB. I have used imgburn before with this drive and backed up movies and wii games fine. I have tried 2.4X and same error. However, when i try to burn a dual layer (with verbatim media) it says: set L0 Data zone capacity failed! Reason: the semaphore timout period has expired (whatever this means) I push cancel and it pops up another error: DeviceIoControl (IOCTL_CDROM_EXCLUSIVE_ACCESS, Unlock) Failed! Device _____ (my device) Unable to unlock volume for exclusive access. Reason: Access denied.

Please help! anything would be helpful! If there is any additional info you need, I'd gladly provide it. Thanks for helping
1. It may be a problem with the connection. If you have another USB port or another USB cable, try that since it may be a problem with the port or the cable... which I suspect from THIS! W 22:57:11 Device Removal Detected!
2. This error also appears to be associated with files with names that are too long, or paths that are too long.
the after effect DeviceIoControl (IOCTL_CDROM_EXCLUSIVE_ACCESS, Unlock) Failed! means the burning app or insane windoze automount still has control of the (notoriously crap these hl-dt-st things) burner..
a *nix user would invoke
hdparm -W <device>
to do a hard reset of the drive and see what happens.

Thank you so much for the help! I'll go buy another USB cable to try out.
I don't really know how to do a hard reset besides unplugging the power on and off.
don't think windoze has that kind of user level hardware control.
I have an antique philips burner that locks up from time to time and the only way to eject a disk is to do a force reset.. in a windoze box it just jams the whole system requiring a power switch reboot.
why don't you fit the new burner in the system case and put your old one in the external? .. that makes way more sense than trying to burn down usb .. which always seems to take bottom priority in the scheme of things for any interrupts or whatever.
