i couldnt agree more Q. im very surprised this issue isnt being talked about more.
I apparently have somehow missed this, what exactly is this issue?

From what ive read, this is a issue with kreon firmware (which im guessing most peeps use to rip). If you rip your games with a xbox drive & 0800 firmware your OK.
Problem is for people who download games, they dont know what method was used to rip.

You can actually scan the file in ABGX and see if it reports SS v1 or SS v2. The real problem is that there is no list of what game is supposed to be SS v2. ABGX is the de facto official database for checking features of games in other areas, but it doesn't have a mechanism in place for that particular security feature.
$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

Maybe now that its come to light, 1.0.3 will have this included (shouldnt be too long due to wave 5). Guess they will have to update every game in the database with this extra field which sound like a hell of a job

Yeah, basically every game would have to be re-verified. I am not very hopeful about it, but who knows.

I dont think it is a big issue!! Unless m$ change the way SS works then we dont need to worry, and i doubt they will.

They did change the way it works. That's why they call it version 2.

Ok, so let me get this straight: I have to use abgx and re-check SS Version (Under "Checking SS") and see if it says 2 <trusted> ?
And if it is version 1 (like my boderlands and older games) what should I do? just not play it?
I am still fairly new to all this so if this is a dumb question then sorry but I don't know.

Your best bet is just to start fresh for iX LT. Make sure any game you play is a rip you have done yourself with a XBOX 360 DVD drive with iX 1.6 0800 firmware. So you will get SSv2 and you will know for sure your ISO is SplitVid.

Yes, XBOX Backup Creator should always rip the game and have proper SplitVid. Other programs like Schtrom 4.1 allow you to either rip with SplitVid or without.
I have been backing up all my games using xbox backup creator. However, under the options tab in xbc, under read, I only have "delete on cancel" and "add filler to video" checked and not "build splitvid iso". However my iso come out to be 7.29GB and abgx reports splitvid as valid when I set it to add if doesnt exist.
So does xbox backup creator add split vid regardless of whether I select the "build splitvid" option.
