Bad serial data using maximus xtractor and spear!!

I invested the money in buying the maximus 360xtractorpro and spear. I loaded a fresh copy of windows xp so i could start completely from scratch. I installed the drivers from the site, and when i tested out the probe for the first time using jungle flasher it worked just fine. i've only had it a few days and now i keep getting "bad serial data" on the same exact drive. All the lights and everything else work, when i touch the r707 it lights up blue but still wont read the key. My friend brought over his usb probe, http://www.easymg.com/game-console-adapt...or-addon-2.html and i installed the driver and it worked every time. but mine still won't. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Try the half tray in a different position. Maybe un-install the driver and re-install it. I take it you are using the USB connection of the Xtractor PRO.

are you sure you have the correct com port selected? i had this problem when i first started using my xtractor. also, make sure you have the drive in the half tray correctly as well.

I've got it all hooked up right, i have the tray in the correct position, and it still doesn't work. yes i'm using usb because i don't have a serial port. It only gives me one com port, unless i had my friend's usb probe attached. I use his and it reads no problem, and switch to mine and the error. and i used it twice before and it worked. i don't know what happened. i even went as far as to reformat my hard drive just in case i installed something wrong. still nothing. but like i said the moment i use my friend's probe again it works. is there any way to make one like the one he has? or did my probe go bad????

well if yours worked before, and now its not, i would request a RMA and return it/exchange it.

does anyone know how to make a usb probe??? i wanted to take my friend's apart to see but he wouldn't let me. I'm desperate. i have another friend's xbox apart and i promised him i'd have it flashed for him (kinda owed him a favor)

Can you borrow your friends probe just to pull the key data while you are waiting on a RMA for your probe?

he's not being nice, and he says that since his works that i should be able to fix mine. The light comes on when i touch the r707 but won't read the key. i don't reckon there's anything other than sending the crap back that i ordered. i was so hoping it would be a setting or something. I've had it less than 4 days. and i just used it the day before yesterday, ran an errand, and when i came back i started getting the error

If you haven't changed anything on your end, then it has to be the probe. What are the properties under the COM port when you are in JF?

i had he same problem when i first started modding so i invested in a pci card with serial ports and a serial cable everything worked fine after installing those drivers. i eventually got the usb to work as well but im not sure how i got that going

That is definitely for the Xtractor. Could you also try a differnt USB connection or cable?

i've tried 3 or 4 different cables because i thought i might have had one gone bad. but still the same thing. as far as connection...i've tried every usb port on my desktop (it has six) but still nothing and the port doesn't change

I know you said you reformatted the hard drive, but go ahead and un-install the driver and re-install. Re-boot the PC and try it out.
