Banned Xbox 360 can't play avi files any work around.

Error code 51-C00DF236 (Don't have necessary codecs)
Not actually banned but I am pretty sure I am flagged. Console bought second hand so it's registered to someone else but when I rang up the guy gave me the impression it was banned but said he couldn't say anything because it's not registered to me.
Q(1) Is there anyway to get the codecs onto my 360 by say connecting to an unbanned one and downloading.
Q(2) If I try and get them through my 99% sure is flagged 360 and get banned will it make a difference seeing as I updated to the latest dash so HDD function won't be lost. Can you still connect a banned 360 to the internet to stream. Basically does it ban you from live or stop you from connecting to the internet all together.
Q(3) Can I convert the avi file to something that doesn't need the codecs.

Using tversity, set the transcoder to "always transcode"

thats for jtagged consoles, but you should be able to download the codecs there and run them through yaris swap and just copy/paste them to your xbox 360 hard drive via 360 xport, or whatever the programs are called to their proper location (partition 3/content/)
