Beginner Xbox 360 flashing

Ok. I am trying to Flash the dvd drive from an xbox 360.
I read online that I can power up the drive by using the xbox 360. So i did that. I connected the SATA cable from my computer to the drive that was in the 360.
Now I tried multiple times by restarting computer and 360 and the computer never recognized the drive. I was wondering if anyone can help me by telling me what im i doing wrong. Thank you!
My motherboard is the asus m4a88td-m/usb3

If you are following the JungleFlasher PDF and its not finding the drive, you are likely to have an incomoatible sata chipset. You will prolly need to purchase a Via6421a sata card.

It's normal for the drive to not show up in device manager. You need a via 6421 via card or a X360usbpro from Team X
