I flashed my BenQ not so long ago (my first attempt at flashing). The only software you need is JungleFlasher as it's done from within Windows.

If the drive is already flashed with iXtreme 1.5 or above, then you need to use the tray half open method. If the drive has never been flashed, or it's flashed with iXtreme 1.1 to 1.41, you can unlock the drive just by using the "Benq UnLock" button in JungleFlasher.

Here's a really good step by step tutorial that I used to flash my drive: -

One of the first things you do is to read the drive's original firmware and save it to your hard drive. That's what you'll want to keep a backup of once the process is complete. You can burn it to CD, put it on a USB stick, upload it somewhere - whatever. It's only a few KB, but it contains the drive key, should you ever need it.
