Hello, so I have found two different tutorials that both seem really good and I am unsure which one to follow. Things are always changing so I want to make sure I am following the most up to date tutorial. I have already done all the wiring and have dumped the nand twice and got two identical .bin files. These two tutorials I have seem to kinda go in different directions when it comes to the command prompt part of it.

The first one I found here on the forums:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...torial_-823187/

Here is the second one I found using google.
http://docs.google.com/View?id=dnfmv5h_186pp2zddm

I like the second one because it goes more in detail and shows how to get XBReboot installed and all that. That is definitely the area I need the most help in.

Why does the one tutorial tell you do dump a 2MB NAND and the other one to dump a 16MB NAND? If I only need the first 2MB of the NAND then why does the other tutorial say to dump a 16MB NAND? Also the part where the blue screen comes up on the 360 is different in both tutorials. Why is that?

Both of these are tutorials show you how to flash xell to your drive, you only need to do this if you have flashed your xbox drive and lost your drive key.

I use this, Here

okay thanks! So under normal circumstance, all I need is XBreboot?

I actually have lost the drive key. The 360 I'm jtagging has a dead dvd drive and I have no drive key for it. So since I do need the DVD drive key which of the two guides should I follow? The first tutorial doesn't show anything about a DVD drive key where as the second one, when it gets to the blue screen, it does show the DVD drive key.... So should I follow the second tutorial?

Okay I have my 360 Jtagged and I got the DVD key :D

Thanks for the help. I followed Manu's tutorial and got XBR working fine and then I went to the other link and followed the instructions there but I couldn't seem to get Xell to work. Maybe I didn't do something right. So I ended up following the second tutorial I posted in my first post and all went smoothly.

HMM... Now I have to learn what this Jtag mod can actually do since the only reason I did it was to get the DVD key. I hear you can play emulators and load 360 games off a USB hard drive.

Could anyone direct me on a good tutorial or something that will explain how to flash a new Hitachi DVD drive with the DVD key I now have?? I thought you could just paste the DVD key into JungleFlasher but that doesn't seem to be the case. FYI it is for a Hitachi drive.

as for what jtags can do, check out the site that both mike and myself linked you to. there is a dedicated homebrew section there for just that. as for using JF to flash your drive, you need to open up the firmware for your hitachi drive, or whatever drive you are replacing it with and manually put in the dvd key, then save that, and use that as your 'source' firmware in JF. then spoof that to the destination and flash like normal.

Okay, I have a .rar file full of hitachi FWs. There are a bunch that start with "orig" and then end with different numbers with the highest number being "orig79-4e10.bin". Do I just use the highest number one or are they each for different drives?

How do you manually put the dvd key into the FW? With a hex editor? If so how do you find the spot to put the key? I don't have much experience with hex editors and all the numbers scare me, lol.

Google the Jungleflasher PDF, this will give you step by step instructions on how to flash your Hitachi drive.

One tip : I find it easier with my onboard SATA rather than the Via 6421a card with Hitachi's

Thanks!

Yeah I use my mobo's on-board sata too.. I have an Nvidia 680i motherboard.

Ive used the Jungle Flasher tutorial a bunch of times but never though to check the other sections of the tutorial. A lot easier then I thought it would be.
