I have a Bad Hitachi 47 -- needs a laser. (open tray)
Was wondering -- I may just get the laser (you can get one from Amazon for $1.50!!), but what is the best drive out there if I were to replace it completely -- and maybe the best deals?
I've had luck with Liteon, but wondering what everyone else thinks.
From what I understand you cant spoof drives any more with the new dash. The new dash does a check to make sure it is the same model xbox came with. So I would either get a laser, or just get another shitachi.
What error do you get if you have the new dash? You mean Kinect? Bacause if you're talking about firmware; I've spoofed with LT+ without a hitch. Reading originals and back ups.

yea but LO lasers always seem to get stuck way on the edge sometimes
This is usually because morons don't do full dumps like in 99% of the liteon theads on this site. Full dump, dumps the laser calibration. dummy dumps don't.
