I downloaded an iprep program bundle which had a SAMCFW attached and in a separate folder, a file which was named iextreme 1.6.
Regardless, I formatted a floppy as instructed and it installed the necessary software.
Following the tutrial video, I proceeded with the operation. I´m using an nvidia nforce 630i and read the dvd drive perfectly.
Now, aside from having to manually power cycle the 360 (it went into vendor mode automatically), I did everything instructed and after saving my OFW and writing the banks, I proceeded to try out my flashed drive.
I started with an original game and that´s where I already had problems. It wouldn´t read originals and treated XBOX 1 originals as DVD movies.
I reinstalled the original firmware, and I have it back to working as before.
So, the process I used to flash seems to work, but the actual firmware I used to flash was bad?
Did I miss a step? Update anything?
If anyone can recommend a tutorial (preferably for iprep) and the correct firmware for my drive, I would greatly appreciate it before I try this again.
I wouldn't say it is the best tutorial, but it will get the job done for you. Check out the Samsung link in my signature. Since you have the MS25, you will want to check out the steps under Sammy Unlock Problems to get your drive Intro'd.

I just wanted to thank you for your suggestion. I used Jungle Flasher instead, followed your tut in the samsung section, and tried my first backup with imgburn.
