Bitsetting booktype Please help

i recently traded my hp laptop, which does booktypeing fine for a macbook and then i bough an external rosewill dvd dl burner. I run imgburn in parallels and when i change the booktype the only manufacture that works is NEC. It says success and then freezes every time. I dont know if that is because it is running through parallels or something else, but it burns fine if dont change the booktype. I have tried nero 8 but i cant find where to change the booktype. Is bitsetting even necessary with all the new firmware updates (I play on live) or is it a must.

Booktype setting is not necessary with new firmware. Set the layer break properly and burn.
