booktype setting, how important?

i was just doing some reading on how to stay safe when playing backups, and i wanted to know how important booktype setting when burning back ups is. i havent played any back ups yet, but i checked the ones i have i see that they shows as dvd+r dl instead of "dvd-rom". is this really important

I believe it was used with older firmware and the booktype had to be set to DVD-ROM. As long as you are running current iXtreme firmware, you won't have to worry about it.

well im new to the flashing and back ups scene. so i dont know what has always worked. im just concerned about recent back ups that i've made. but if the latest firmware overcomes that then i guess i'm good. but i really hope more people will chime in on this topic

for future backups i'll make sure to set img burn to dvd rom.
