So yeah went to radioshack today bought them all, they used to have a computer there with the interweb so i thought i would look up the resistor values and stuff. well they dont have the kiosk anymore and i bought a 1 megohm instead of 1 ohm, does it have to lower than this or can i have a resistor with a higher rating?

What are you using the resistor for? I might be wrong but if you have a megaohm resistor where you need an ohm resistor it would allow too much electricity through, thus frying the components.

link below will explain what colours to look for when choosing resistors, replacing a resistor with a higher value will allow more current through and damage sensitive components.
