Bringing a BenQ online again

In January I downloaded and installed all the latest updates to my BenQ 360. I took it offline, flashed to 1.61 and have not brought it online since. I've played various rips, some verified and some not. Does anyone have a suggested 'best method' for updating to use Xbox Live again with the least risk of being banned? I know there is risk here obviously.

Is flashing to LT 1.1, signing on and downloading updates OK, or should I flash to stock first?

I also read a comment on a private tracker site that information on the 10 most recent games is kept, and that you can play 10 original or verified rips to 'flush out' info from unverified rips. Anyone know if there is anything to that, or if playing those unverified rips will likely get me caught?

Anything your hear on how M$ bans is just speculation. We just dont know.

It is however recommended to flash back to stock, apply updates and then flash LT.
