As title suggests i broke my Samsung MS25 drive while trying to upgrade from 1.61 to LT. A part of the power socket on the back of the drive broke which resulted in me putting the power plug in the wrong way and therefore cooking the drive. Thankfully i have the original firmware including the key saved on my pc.

Anyway as its goosed i ordered a new one but what i want to know is will i have to flash the new drive with the original firmware from the old drive and then flash again to LT? Or can i spoof the drive with the original key?

I've done every drive before from stock but never had to spoof anything and this is what is confusing me. I will be using Jungleflasher so would appreciate any advice so i know what i have to do once the new drive arrives.

Just load your original firmware bin in source and load iX LT for Samsung in target. Click Spoof source to target. Get your Samsung in vendor mode and flash the firmware.

Sounds so simple when you put it like that, i always get confused with spoofing for some reason, think its to do with me not being sure which FW to put into source and which one into target.

Will give that a bash when the drive is here. Thanks for the reply :)

Got the drive today but they have sent me the TS-H943 with F/W revision MS18 instead of MS25. I have flashed the drive with LT and my drive key and it appears to be working fine but what im wondering is, i know LT isnt safe for spoofed drives online so will the fact that im spoofing an MS18 as a MS25 flag me up for a ban?

Again i know that no-one knows for sure how MS detect flashed drives but i want to make it as safe as possible.

From my experience, this isn't an issue...as long as the drives are properly flashed then the PCB will take the updated revision just as it would at the manufacturer with no problems.

**Also, I've never read anything that indicates that microsoft checks for PCB revisions on drives from the same manufacturer. Anyone disagree?

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
