Everybody is going to tell you that the problem is crappy media, and they may be right.

However, every time I've seen this error, it's been due to a crappy burner. Usually it happens with laptop DVD burners.

Get some Verbatim discs and try again.

All burners aren't the same BTW. Some have better compatibility with certain types of discs than others. It also depends on the firmware that's installed on the burner. The burn quality will also vary depending on the type of burner and combination of firmware/media.

Cheap media has a tendency to fail at the layerbreak.

This could also be the cause. I suggested a fix for another guy who was getting bad burns and it worked for him. Read this thread: -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...7246/%234879723

There is no guarantee that it will work for you though, and chances are it's down to your choice of media.

also i noticed that when my burn does fail there is obviously media burnt on the disc cause you can see it but when u hold it in the light it almost looks like an oil spill lol and ive used 2 diff media.. fugifilm and memorex.. im makin a hell of a lot of coasters over here...

Get some Verbatims and your problems will almost certainly disappear! Persisting with cheap media is only going to lead to more coasters. I know you might be thinking "someone might know what this is and provide an easy fix", but there really isn't one. You're using poor quality media and you're getting bad burns. That's why people constantly recommend Verbatims. If you go to the ImgBurn forum and post there, the creator of ImgBurn will just say "go and buy Verbatims". The only other thing you can try is the fix I suggested above, but there's only a small chance of that making a difference.

Then we can't help you, ssilence. Stop asking for advice you won't bother following and just ask Tinkerbell for help with some of that fairy dust. Jesus Christ.

The results you get with cheap media vary from burner to burner. All burns will have errors on them, but you want to have as few recoverable errors as possible and no unrecoverable errors. Using cheap media increases your chances of both kind of errors occurring and even if the disc works in your 360, the console's drive might have to work harder to read the discs, or the game might crash at some point or give you a dirty disc error. Also, cheap media tends to have poor longevity.

You could buy the same burner as your friend has, or get him to burn all of your games for you, but I'd still say get Verbatims for the reasons mentioned. People recommend them for good reasons. Nothing is going to make those discs magically work perfectly in your drive, so we've given you all the available options.

No worries. If those discs work alright for your mate, then sell what's left to him. At least you'll get some of your money back!

it could be your external DVD writer causin' the problem, I had mine long ago with an external LG-4363 not burning DVD+DL disc (A-mark) successfully.
