I flashed my Xbox 360 drive, and burned a game on a verbatim +R DL disk. My Xbox won't read it. I just get the option to open tray. I have an Asus drw-20b1ST drive, which is made by Lite-On. I don't believe it is capable of book type setting, and this may be my problem. I burned using IMG Burn, which wouldn't let me set the book type (FAILED! invalid field in CDB error), but I read most burners automatically set DVD +R to DVD-ROM. Using Opti Drive Control to check I found my burned DVD is still DVD +R DL.

If this is the problem could someone tell what an inexpensive, but good burner that sets book type would be? Or is there a way to make my burner set book type? I've looked for a customer firmware for it and couldn't find anything.

also
My Xbox has sat for quite some time so when I first brought it out the drive wouldn't work. I had to pull it apart and clean the laser lens. Could it be the Xbox drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

PS I can post an IMGburn burn and verify log if that helps.

Just use CloneCD (CloneCD, not CloneDVD), select Burn to CD from Image and burn the .dvd file that should have come with the game (noob-proof). I don't actually know what you did wrong, but the disk you burned so far is shot, from what I read it looks like you burned it as a data dvd. Even without the layer break done it should read as a video DVD when you put it into a normal computer drive (and an Xbox 360 drive, if I remember correctly), not as a DVD-R when burned as an image.
You can test the drive by using a normal original game (any will do), if it works you atleast know that the flash worked.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Thanks for your help Eisherz, but I'm still having problems. I reflashed my xbox drive to stock, them updated the xbox and reflashed to CFW. Both discs(the burned with IMGburn, and CloneCD) still don't work. I get "unrecognized disc, status code 03-57-00". Originals do work though, so the drive is flashed correctly. I did use the .DVD file to burn the disc.

Is there anyway to test the discs to see if they are burned correctly? I'm wondering if my burner just won't burn them right, but I would rather not buy a new burner if I don't have to. If I do they don't seem to be too spendy though.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks

Which DVD drive is in your 360? Are you flashing the newest firmware for your drive? Unrecognizable disc is usually a sign of the laser going bad when you're trying to read backups. You could either get a new drive (same model from ebay) and flash your dvdkey to the new drive, or you could try to calibrate the laser in your 360's DVD drive. I'm not completely sure that your computer's DVD burner is or isn't the culprit. There are others on here that probably know the answers to your questions. Hopefully, you get this figured out one way or another.

I ran the discs through abgx360. One backup showed "verification was suffessful" when completed, the other "Game data was verfied but stealth wasn't".

My xbox has the Hitachi 047 drive.
I flashed to the firmware from this pack: iXtreme_LTplus_v1.91_and_Stock_Firmware_Pack.
It may be the drive. Its from '05 and a bit worn. The tray needs a little help to close sometimes, not to mention when I first brought it out of the closet I had to pull it apart and clean it before it would read any discs at all.

I'll look into calibrating the laser. I'll see what google pulls up, but if anyone has a quick link to a good tutorial I would appreciate it. I like to look a few sources when doing things like this to make sure I'm getting up to date and correct info.

Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it.

well if hitachi's are known for going bad... do I have to go with another Hitachi 47 or can I use a different brand and just flash my key to the new drive? If I can use a different drive, what would you suggest?
