My Liteon drive is having some problems lately, I'm pretty sure the laser is wearing out. I'm looking to buy a replacement drive on ebay.

Would a Benq drive work? I have the key for the liteon, is it possible to flash that key onto a Benq drive? Or does it have to be another Liteon? I tried finding the liteon drives but they are really hard to find :(

yeah you could do that but if your running LT firmware then you'll need to stay with a Liteon. Becasue you you cant spoof while using LT firmware and still be safe for live.

also i just fully realized last night there is a way to clean lenses new to me as i thought just clening the top lens was good enough there is a lower lens (looks like a lens) below your top one very hard to get at with a qtip

but if cleaned i can almost gaurantee that will fix it.

i shined a light through my top lens looked in the gap to see how dirty the lower lens was while cleaning.. its a pain but i fixed six drives i thought were shot len's. (three were Liteon) i used a qtip just pulled alot of the cotton off first to make it smaller..

Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know there was a second lens. I will give this a shot when I get home. :)

so, if i have a hitachi drive, and i want to replace it with a benq, then i couldn't use LT firmware for benq afterwords?
since if i am going to replace them then ill have to spoof the benq first.

Lite-on lasers will go out faster if you AREN'T doing a full dump. Full dump is required to keep the laser data, if not you'll burn it out using the 707 probe method. Probably what happened.
