can i update my liteon 8xxxx safely?

From what i have read on here the last few days it looks like the new update is only zapping xbox slims. is this correct? is it safe to update my phat 360 with a liteon 8xxxx? i know it might not play black ops and halo reach anymore but i can reburn those when the time comes.

Yes only slims are locked but what else is new. No AP2.5 games will boot on Phat boxes after update.
