I was wondering what if you just take out the drive and updated the dash,is that even possible?I was just thinking,when you loose your drive key the 360 still works I have heard.So wht couldnt you just take out your drive and do the update with a thumb stick and put back in your dvd drive.

NO you cannot. Even if the xbox would properly boot, the dash would never update. It would error out because it looks for the drive.
