Conecting Xbox To Live Through PC

My friend has an xbox that he wants to connect to live, but being close to the router is not possible. I came over and hooked it up to his wi-fi connected PC, set it up on the PC, and tried it. Then it says, cannot resolve xbox live DNS Host Names or something like that. What went wrong? He has a verizon FIOS(I guess it's frontier FIOS now) Wi-Fi enabled router.

How did you connect the xbox to the PC? Regular network cable? If so you need a crossover cable (or you can make one from a regular cat5 cable). After that set up internet connection sharing and forward the XBL ports and it should be good to go

Yeah, I forgot about that. But the weird thing is, I gave my friend a cable to connect it to his laptop and it worked fine. I gave him another one because he broke the plug on the other one, and that worked fine too. I did not even know that they were crossover cables.

both my grandsons are connected from a pc to a 360 and PS3 (separate puters). You can google it, but I just connected an ethernet cable from the console to an open active ethernet port and went into network connections and right clicked on the wireless connection/properties and the advanced tab. Click share, I am not sure what i did next ( I am at work now), but trust me it works. You do not need a wireless adapter.
