He says not all games work with it so hopefully there's a better way but if not I might go with this. Cheers

I've always wondered if this was possible. Neat info... horrible Youtube video :)

It's just too bad it only outputs standard definition video when laptop screens are built for HD.

Anyone know of any HDMI/Component/DVI --> USB/PCMCIA/mini-PCI that costs less than a HD television/monitor of a similar size to your laptop screen?

Emailed http://www.climaxdigital.net/ and asked them what cable would accomplish this and they said http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/epages/BT...Products/111138 would work.

I just don't see how this cable alone could work if someone could enlighten me before I buy.

It just takes any standard def video and audio line and passes it to the computer on the USB port.

So it will work. Will there be problems with picture quality or lag would you say. Cheers qwert99.

I would think it would work, but I have not used one myself. The picture quality will only be standard def, and I would think that any lag or quality issues would be dependent upon your computer.

This won't just pass a video signal to your LCD screen. Your computer is going to have to capture the image as it is sent and render it as an image for your computer. That requires overhead and unless you have a decently powerful laptop, may not be great. But again, I can't say for sure because I haven't used one myself.

At 20 pounds I guess it's not too bad. You might want to give consideration to a small PC monitor instead, however. You can get a 17" monitor for about $100 in the US these days. I can't imagine it would be much more expensive in the UK. That way you could at least get HD quality and use it for other things as well.
