H iall im trying to connect my xbox to my pc using a netopia 2247 02 router I have xbox live running but can not share my windows media player with the xbox need help big time

I believe you need UPnP enable and possibly some ports opened on the router.

Hi and thanks still in limbo not sure how to open ports do I open them in the router or on the pc ??? Im only doing this for my son just cant get my head around it went to the web site you said but still no joy mick

rickrust, try using Tversity. It does the same thing, and imo is a little more user friendly. There is even a full guide written right here on the forums for step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.

Before you start opening ports and troubleshooting stuff, make sure that you are following the correct steps to stream video to the Xbox360:

1) Make sure you have a WIRED (not wireless) connection to the router from both the PC and the Xbox
2) Make sure you have Windows Media Player 11 (or up) OPEN on the PC
3) In WMP, click "Library" and then on "Add to Library". Click "Advanced Options" and "Add" the folder that contains the video file your want to stream.
4) On your Xbox360, go to "My Xbox", then "Video Library". Your PC should be listed on the next screen. Select it. It should now display your shared files.
