Copy my USB0 (external HD) to another drive?

OK, I just jtag'd my second 360 and I don't want to go through the hassle of copying all my game DVDs one at a time to another external drive. I've tried FTP but it is slow and keeps locking up (or something - not sure). There has to be a way to copy from one USB0 to another. I tried Xplorer360 and it would not recognize the drive. Any ideas?

Are you talking about a regular portable usb hard drive? That's usually what usb0 is. If that's the case then it's fat32 and can be manipulated by a computer like any other hard drive.
If it's a 360 HD or some other form of internal HD you could try Party Buffalo Drive Explorer or something else similar to Xplorer360.
If you're talking about a 360 storage partition created from the system menu(where it allows up to 16GB on an external device) then you need to use usbxtafgui to manipulate the files.
... the 360 storage partition shows up as a hidden folder in windows, I suppose you could just copy the whole thing, but I never tried it.

I am talking about a regular portable usb hard drive. I cannot see it in WinXP. In fact, the OS wants to format it when I plug it in.

You can use FTP to FTP them over to the other drive. Probably much easier. Just connect the second drive up to the 360. Use filezilla and transfer them over from your pc.

I tried the FTP route for 3 days and it has been too much trouble to deal with. Should be a much easier solution. Hooking both to the same 360 might have some promise. I'll have to see if it will accept them. I'll post my results.

With both drives connected, just use a file explorer like the one in XeXMenu or another one. Then copy until your heart is content.

For a while I thought this wasn't going to work either (hooking up as usb0 and usb1). It kept freezing at a screen that said something like "getting ready for file xfer". After a few more tries of selecting every directory I just selected one and the "getting ready" screen only stayed up for a minute or so and then started copying.

Nope, it only worked one time for me (I got to copy only one directory). All it does now is sit there at the "Preparing File Operation" screen. I have no idea what is wrong.

OK, I'm closing in on the problem. One drive (that has all the stuff on it) is not recognized by XP. The second drive (with very little on it) is recognized as a Fat32 drive. I'm going to do a reformat and start from scratch. It sucks and will take me a couple of days to copy everything back on to it but I guess that is what I have to do.

Plug the drive into your computer, right-click the drive and from the properties menu choose error check. Sure hope you didn't format.

You cannot error check a drive without a format (or one that a computer thinks is not formatted). I am FTP'ing the data off it now (worked on it all night) in addition to copying all my game DVDs to the 2nd drive. Not sure what has caused the problem. Both drives were originally formatted to Fat32 with the same program and both were working fine. The problem only showed up after using FTP to transfer a few directories (maybe 5 games) from one to the other.

OK, just as some closure - I spent a week playing games on both boxes but still being unable to view one of the drives in XP and not being able to copy or FTP very well between the drives. I got fed up with it and reformatted the "bad" drive. Everything is fine now. I don't know what happened to it when the drive was formatted but there must have been a problem with it for some reason.
Bottom line - a fresh FAT32 format fixed everything.
