Could this cause error code 0003?

I just picked up a RROD motherboard and it gives the error code 0003, which from what I read is a power issue. On the motherboard the sata connector is broken off, could this be causing the problem? At first I thought it couldn't because my jtag is running with out anything hooked to the sata connector, but then I was thinking that if the connector is missing it could affect voltage or grounding on the board.

I have a spare board that I can pull the connector off of to replace it, but I do not want to waste the time if it is not likely the issue.

Like you said maybe one of the wires are grounding out, which would be a lucky fix for you. I have a console that has that code and I've tried everything to fix it, and well it pretty much turned into a donor board for parts. I haven't heard of many people fixing this error or much info on it. I read that it could be one of the transistors bad shorting out the power rails. Pretty much everything I read lead to cpu not getting correct power, so if you wanted to try and trace out transistors leading to cpu area it might help you get to the problem if its not the sata shorting. Anyways hope you have better luck than me with it, and if you find out that its something other than sata I would love to hear it for future references.
