was hoping some of the folks on here could help answer why this worked my xbox360 got rrod with the code 0102 about nine months ago and the next day it seemed to work again until 2weeks ago so i was going to order the x clap fix but instead i just took the thermal paste that was on the cpu off and just reused it now i will have to say that it wasnt paste anymore but more like putty but still i used it on the cpu and the other chips as well i just made a thin layer of it on the bottom of both heat sinks and put the xbox back together and the results are is it has been working for two weeks now and i did two of my friends xbox the same way and they both work as well

this fix is coming from the xclamps, by changing them around even if you do not mean to. in doing so you are applying pressure to the needed area that maybe wasnt there before. it will last until the clamp gets weak in that area again or the solder gets too far away from the chip or board.

thats kinda what i had in mind that if i just put back that hard paste and i forgot to say that i did let them run for 5 min without the fan that it would make the solder soft and that hard paste would push down just enough to make it work and thanks for the help

The intense heat that caused the chips to unseat in the first place will cause them to unseat again. You will have to reflow the chips eventually...although you may be able to get away with redoing the xclamps another time or two. Everybody's XBOX 360 usage is different, that's why some people take a while before they see the RROD return.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
