Current X360 Arcade - easilly modded/flashed?

Hi guys,
just wanted to ask a simple question really.

A couple of years ago I brought a XBOX Elite and it had one of those Hitachi 79 drives which proved to be a pain in the ass. I brought a Maximus chip for it but I got the 3 ring of death just before attempted to mod, so cutting a long story short I got rid and its only now that I am thinking of the Arcade version.

My question to you guys is, would this Arcade version be easier to mod/flash? I mean, they haven't put a new DVD drive in the new ones which is on top of its game have they?

there is a the new liteon drive which requires soldering to mod it, but the chances of getting one of those in an arcade is quite slim, the best one to get is the sega superstar tennis bundle, they don't have the new liteon.

Systems manufactured in August 2009 to current started having the newer 9 and 8v2 series liteon drives that require cutting traces, installing switches and then reconnecting the traces.
