Ok so I am trying to flash my xbox so I can play backed up games. It has a samsung toshiba ms25 drive. I have read the jungle flash tutorial that is on this great forum and that is the main method I am trying.
Ok so this is my problem and what I did:
first I tried Iprep, it would not find the drive. So then I followed the jungleflash guide (used version 7 beta); anyway Jungle Flasher found the drive! I did Sammyunlock, but it failed to start the drive in verndor mode, I tried "intro/device Id" restarting it in a sec, etc can not get it to place the drive in vendor mode. So I pretty much, gave up and decided to plug it back into the tv, well now when I boot, and get three red rings! and the drive will not open, it will try but stop after moving like a mm! Please help, I didn't do any flashing, all I have been trying to do is get it into vendor mode!
pLEASE ADVICE?

Did you plug the dvd drive power cord in upside down?

If you did its too late :(
It probably fried the drive. E64 is basically death to your xbox unless you already have the key or can jtag the console.

What error code do you get with your RROD?
The drive just has to get power to flash it, it used to be suggest you flash with the video cable out, which prevented it from fully powering on.

Ok, I really appreciate your help.
I get nothing on screen. Just the three red rings, this xbox had this problem in the past, I fixed it by resetting the heat sinks and adding another fan. I has been fine for 8 months until now, hopefully it is not the drive just that, so I can maybe fix it again. What do you think???

If you can pull the secondary error code we can find out exactly what it is. Press and hold the sync button and press the eject button 4 times and tell me how many lights flash each time you press the button.

Sorry I know you are trying to help. But I don't understand exactly, what is the sync button?? So I turn the xbox on, then press and hold the sync button, then press eject 4 times in rapid succession and see what happens?

Not rapid succession, do it slow enough you can see the lights on the ring of light on the front of the xbox. The computer doesn't need to be on. The sync button is the one on the right side under the dvd drive, the button you use to sync up controllers to the console. These are the best instructions for how to get the code.
Quote: Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

Ok, this time it booted up, but crashed at xbox intro screen which makes me think that it is just the gpu. Which I think I can fix, hopefully.
I did what you said to the best of my ability.
I got 4-2-3-4 If I did it right that is. If that doesn't sound right, I am happy to try again.
Thanks again for taking you time to help me with my problem!

That isn't a code on the list people get, could it have been 4-2-4-3? If thats what it was then its over heating GPU which could likely be it since you say you have had overheating before.

I yep I think it could have been that! Thanks so much for you help, I am going to work on the gpu and report back later or tomorrow, then if I get that fixed try again with the flashing. I will report progress in this thread, if I run into any speed bumps. For now off to bed. It booted so I think it is overheating gpu, it had this problem in the past.
Thanks again for your help, I will let you know if I get the gpu fixed.

I did that :( lol
At least I did it on a Jtagable 360.
I had the overheatng GPU before and I diagnosed it by pressing down on the GPU heatsink.. The xbox wouldn't boot up unless I was pushing down on the heatsink. So I replaced the x-clamp with the bolts and washers and used arctic silver 5 and it works great now.

Ok, I have been busy, but today took the time out and fix the red ring thing. It is working perfectly right now as I normal xbox. You guys were extremely helpful before, so any tips for flashing this ms25 drive???? I have tried jungle flasher more than a dozen times but I will never get into vendor mode. Any tips??
Trying on a TA790GX 128mb motherboard, I also have access to a MSI 790GX motherboard if need be.
Thanks a lot
