Forgive me for this noobish question, but I have spend the last hour looking for an answer:

What is the difference between the xexloaders? ie:
xexloader - iso (this is the one I have currently installed)
xexloader - god
" "- LIVE
" "- XEX

for the most part they appear to have the same files in the CODE9999 folder, I was just curious.

I also had another question:

So if I wanted to play games from my USB HDD how would I patch the isos? I have read than I have to unlock them or something - I have the unlocker and xextools, I just don't know how to use them. I have basically every thing done: Jtag, XBR is installed, I used the xexloader ISO to get that going, I just need to figure out what to do with my collection of 360 ISOs!

Thanks

PSP-modded, ps2 fat-modded w/fliptop and swap magic, PS3-YLoD, DS Lite w/ Acekard 2i, Xbox 360 - JTAGed with no dvd-rom

The ISO is the one you burn to a disk, the XEX one is the one you can open with a XEX loader. The GOD is the one that installs to your Games On Demand folder. I always get the ISO version, burn to disk and copy the C0DE9999 folder to my HDD:/content/0000000000000000 folder from the disk.

BTW, use XEXmenu, XEXloader is the older version.

Thanks for the response, I'll be sure to get xexmenu. So there is no way I can play my none arcade games (my isos) from a usb hdd? or is there a way I can convert/patch them? Are the xex files only for arcade games and dlc?

Yes you can, you just extract the ISO to a folder (with XBC) and call the folder you game name. Copy this over to your USB drive and XEXmenu should see the game in the games list. For example USBDRIVELETTER:/Games/Assasins Creed

Alright, thanks for the help. I got xexmenu installed and I'm using xbox image browser to extract the files. One thing I was curious about is the size of the files - not individually but their total size - I'm extracting L4D right now, and xbox image browser says that it's only 4.34 GB. Does that sound right?

Yep thats fine, XBOX ISO's are 7.x GB but this is due to "padding", the actual file sizes can be smaller. You can even get you game smaller than this by using x360Scrub

EDIT: PS, dont forget to delete the $systemupdate folder
