hi im doing this tutorial on http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/firmware...s-7-64-bit.html
its says
Removing your VIA card's Drivers
1. Disable your VIA card using your Device Manager.
2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and rename "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys" to "viamraid.sys1" or "vsmraid.sys1" so your computer can't recognize them.
3. Re-enable your VIA card.
4. Shut down your PC.
im not sure which via card to disable well i cant find anything.
There is one called
IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers
VIA 1394 OHCI Compliant host controller s
should I disable that one??

not sure how it would work in windows 7 but for xp when you put the via card in and boot the computer it should ask you if you want to install the drivers at that point just say no.
if you already have them installed then go to device manager and go to storage controllers you should see a controller that has the name of your via card. after that double click your sata controller and go to the driver tab and uninstall the drivers. if you do it correctly there should be a yellow question mark next to the name of your controller after that.
I'm not sure ifd your card would appear in a different area than mine but you will be able to find it because it will have the name of the card in it, and the one you asked about is a port on the motherboard i think.

Any suggestions on how to do this because I have windows 7 64bits I wish now I had 32 bits.
Thanks

if you plugged the drive directly into the motherboard via onboard sata then you need to verify that you controller recognizes 360 drives because not all of them do. if your sata is nvidia it should work because mine is nvidia and it works. also, I don't know if you can flash on windows 7 how would you use the portio drivers? but you could try a dual boot to put xp on the same drive as windows seven, then you should have no problems with flashing.
as for finding you via card's drivers and deleting them the only way I know to do that is through device manager.

ive flashed using windows 7. portio works fine on it. when you go to device manager if you have installed a sata card, it should be listed in there.

The problem getting Windows 7 to work with flashing isn't so much that it is Windows 7, but that many installations of Windows 7 are 64 bit, which isn't compatible with the 32 bit drivers/programs all the time. If it is a 32 bit version of Windows 7, then it should work.

Yes, if you have a windows XP/vista/7 dvd you insert it and reboot, and it will auto load the set up... just follow screen until you find part where it asks you where you want to install it. here it will ask you if you want to format parition or create or delete... click create parition and it will ask amount of space. So sine you are only doing it for flashing, i'd say do maybe like 30-50 gb (not sure how much windows really needs) and install windows on this parition.
