my xbox 360 drive wont play games lately i put in a disk it makes a quick noise and then says open every time so it seems to me that the drive isent loading up what can be the problem?

Several things. The laser, the disc, the drive firmware, the motherboard could be bad. Any number of things. To rule out most things open the drive and turn the xbox on and see if you can see the laser and see if you the drive motor is spinning.

I'll take a guess it's a Hitachi and the reason it won't spin is because it can't read the disc, do as mikeismad said and open it to check does the laser light up and move on it's track.
