Hi i haven't updated my firmware since black ops came out and i never play online.

Do i have to update my firmware before i can play these newer games? ncaa 12 deusex

no not really, if you never play online if you go online at all for anything then yes you do.

You are going to have to flash back to stock firmware in order to update your console with any of the latest games that are xgd3 format. XGD3 is MS's new protection setup and the newer updates flash your console so it can read the new disc format. If the update detects modded firmware, it will not update and will flag your console for a ban if it ever goes online. It will also prevent you from playing the game until you flash back to stock with the firmware. You also have to have the original dvd drive installed, you can not have a spoofed drive.
