I can't check for myself because I'm not at home now and won't be for a while (double shift at work). My son wants to flash a 8xxxx series and says that JF shows the drive's firmware as 83850. But the sticker on the drive's board says 83850c-2. I don't want him to flash the wrong firmware to it.

Does JF show the 83850c v2 firmware as such, or does it just say say 83850 for both versions?

I believe on all 83850C's it will show 83850C-2 on the PCB board itself. As for whether it is a v1 or v2 depends on the date. I think JF can distinguish between v1 and v2. Ask him what the date is on the drive itself.

That's just it. The sticker was missing. Anyway, it turned out to be a v2.

There is no difference between the 8xxx firmwares that I am aware of. Of course JF always autoloads mine ;)
