Does Microsoft ban HDDs as well?

I was wondering 'cause my system got banned about 4 days ago and I haven't touched my 360 since.

I kinda felt like playing Modern Warfare 2 so I decided to take out my HDD from my banned console and use it on my brother's flashed system that surprisingly wasn't banned. When I tried to use it, my profile wasn't there probably due to that license thing that they do, so I tried to recover my gamertag. It came up with a message saying that the system couldn't connect to Xbox Live so I tested the connection and immediatley got a message saying that the console got banned. Then I switched back to my brother's HDD and it still got the same message.

Do you think they track HDDs as well or did I just go on my brother's console with it already being banned?

no they don't ban harddrives. you can still save games. just not install them

It was just SO sudden that I thought it was the HDD. Anyone else have this happen? Like I asked too, you think that my brother's console was already banned before I even got that message when I tested the connection?

im sure someone will work out how to get the install function back on a banned xbox.
there has to be a way of getting it back.

Not gonna lie, the install function isn't a big deal to me, except for games that actually take long.

Other than that, from what you guys said, I just still hope that it wasn't my fault my brother's 360 got banned either way, heh. He's already planning on gettin a new one today. So soon to say the least lol.
