I am reading that the new arcades have 512 mb of onboard memory but in the xbox site, there are displaying that it has 256 mb of memory? Does that mean, 256 mb memory card and 512 onboard memory which brings the total to 768 mb? Also how can I be sure that it's a jasper, moddable and has 512 mb memory onboard?
The new arcades have 512 internal and the old ones had 256. When this was changed I don't know. I do know the arcade I bought with a manf date of July has 512.
One more thing, I would want a 512 mb jasper console which is moddable to play backups without soldering and using connectivity kits. So, which lot should I look for? After June 2009?

I think you want a system made around June or back. (May, April, March, Feb, Jan.)
I also got my 360 during the Walmart deal and it was made in May and had the 7 series Liteon. I updated it on-line and once I did that and grabbed the Divx patch, I yanked the network cable and have no intentions of ever going back on XBL. I know that by applying the NXE summer dashboard, I lost the ability to use some of the new homebrew apps just starting to take off but I don't care to jump through the hoops necessary to get that stuff working but no big whoop for me. If you want to maybe play with the homebrew stuff, get a XB360 made towards the start of 2009 and don't hook it up to XBL or don't let it update the dashboard!
BTW, my Arcade model (HDMI ver), had 512 megs of onboard RAM.

June and July for sure and maybe some May if you look in the database are 8 series v1.
