.001 etc is usually 7zip. You will need to download that and install it. Then you should be able to extract the ISO. You need to run the ISO through ABGX to verify it is properly patched since you downloaded the game.

.rar extensions need a program called win rar to extract. they are just compressed files, so you need a program to decompress them.

when you obtained the files there should be a bunch of them .00 .01 .02 .03, ect. ect. make sure you have the programs installed that we told you about, (which you can download for free) then just right click on the .00 file and there should be a menu that comes up, on the menu look for a option that say the word "extract" it may say something along the lines of "extrach here" click that, let it run for about 5 mins, depending on how fast your pc is. then you will have your .dvd image or .iso image that you can run through abgx or whatever, and then you can burn it!

That's your problem mate. In some cases you do have to merge .001, .002 etc. files together with a program like HJSplit, but not with 360 games - not if they are scene releases anyway.
You have to extract the file(s) inside the split archives rather than joining them together. If you have WinRAR installed, just right click on the .001 file and choose "Open with..." and then select WinRAR, then you'll be able to extract the file(s) inside.

ok it's like this i have a big dvd right, so how do i make that smaller so i can upload it to the internet, and make it faster for people to download? the solution, is compressing the files. people use a program called win rar, the program will take the dvd and compress it down into o i dunno lets say 40 - 50 files. those are called .rar files. the reason there are so many is because what you are downloding is a huge amount of information, and lets say it was one big file, what happens if you lose your internet connection? you guessed it, you would have to start over. this way you can download smaller files and stop when needed. once you have all of the .rar files, you use win rar to extract the files back into what it once was, the orig. game or dvd or whatever it is you are downloading. extracting the files is simple, step one download your .rar files. step 2, downlod win rar. step 3 right click one of the .rar files and click extract. done. .rar files should not be confused with .par files, those are two seperate things.
