When i tried to play my game my dvd drive wouldnt open up so i took my dvd drive apart to see the problem. i took the case off it and tried to open the drive it would open but when i put the case back on it wouldnt open. So i tried bending the sides out to see if that was the problem but it wasnt so then i noticed that the magnet in the motor might be to strong so put some tape on the magnet and it opened up great!. then i tried plying a game but then it would make a grinding noise. So i took the case off again and tried putting in the game with just the little white thing from the drive that goes right over the magnet and it would work. but then again when i put the case back on it made the same grinding noise??? any help would be helpful. thank you

Soak the pully belt in mild soapy water for 5-10 minutes...then dry. Clean the pully with alcohol and qtip. It sounds like the magnet is now too weak to spin the disc properly, remove the tape. Try with the new clean pully belt.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

If all else fails, get a new drive and flash your dvd key into it. I know it's not the most cost efficient way, but it's an idea. Probably a last resort idea lol.
