Is it really crucial to use verbatim? It seems to be the most expensive of the bunch. Have any of you had success with any other brands like memorex, maxell, tdk, philips or ridata? Most curious about ritek/ridata. I have used that for everything else in the past with great success.
And -r dl is just useless? I have a bunch of that laying around with nothing to use it for.

I will most likely get the verbatim, but I have always thought the ritek dye was superior to most brands. I thought taiyo yuden and ritek were top of the game.

actually I've had more coasters with verbatim than memorex. I look at it this way: if your drive can read memorex, why not use them? I've had 3 systems that read them just fine no problems and another used system that had some trouble until i tweaked the pot on the laser. So yea I dont see any reason not to use em.
Both taiyo yuden & Verbatims are the media to use if you dont want to wreck your DVD drives laser. With other brands the laser has to work harder to read the data on the disk which means you laser will die sooner.
w00ly, just because it works, doesnt mean its not stressing your drives laser.

All your questions are basically about getting this or that for the cheaper price. If you're concerned with saving $$$$$, look at it this way: pay $60 for a game or put it on a Verbatim for $2. Two bucks is cheap. Real Cheap.
