Flashed with latest Xtreme firmware from xbins (v1.0)
Ok. So I finally got my xbox flashed and playing backed up games as of yesterday. My backed up copy of Brink worked all last night and I started to play Lego Pirates this morning, but had to stop. It was working. I tried again about 2 hours later and my xbox had me download a live update. After this update finishes I get an error 66 black screen. All the info regarding this that I found on the net is from 2009 at the latest. I was going to try and restore the orig firmware, then try the update, and then re-flash. I figured I should ask around before I mess something up. Any ideas out there?

OK. after a little more digging...
I assume this is due to the new dashboard update. I also assume i am just going to have to wait for new firmware to be released.
Are my assumptions correct?

If it is due to the newest dashboard update then you just need to reflash your dvd drive. Reason for this is because the new update flashes your drive back to an original firmware so now none of your backups will boot. Hope this helps.

I just noticed the drive you are using and that particular drive shouldn't be affected by the new update at least not for AP 2.5 games so no need to patch AP 2.5 to your ISO files. Like I said just reflash the drive and see if that works. Then when and if a new firmware comes out for that drive flash the drive with that newer firmware. Good luck!

E66: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive pairing failure: DVD model, or version does not match that of the version expected by the dashboard. OR the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer. if drive can eject, read, and write under windows but errors on console, replacing original firmware should fix issue.

I will try this.
I am new to the modded xbox world. Should I restore the orig firmware before I reflash?

its already been restored thats what the update did, now your problem has come from more than likely your drive has been spoofed, are you the original owner?

ok, all of my games and back-ups worked fine if I stayed offline.
Then I just restored my stock firmware, ran the live update, and then reflashed with ixtreme LT again. Everything is peachy keen now. Thanks for the inputs!

Right.
If you received the LIVE update which started back on the 19th, your dvd drive was flashed with new STOCK firmware from MS. If you then flashed your drive with modded firmware and then downloaded ANOTHER LIVE update, that update was looking for the new STOCK firmware. If if wasn't there (because you flashed it with modded firmware) then you get the e66.
Also note that it's being said by c4e and the team that if you are using modded firmware on LIVE after these updates that it MAY be easily detected by MS which would flag you to be banned.

Does the new stock firmware replace the motherboard key and subsequently the drive's key? Are there reports of any new AP2.5 games?

Just got the prompt to update moments ago so I decided to go on ahead and try it w/o returning my modded Sammy back to stock and before it was even done updating, I got the e66 also & the drive isn't spoofed. So I just powered down and when it came back on everything was back to normal. The prompt to update even appeared again but this time I'm returning it back to stock b4 I do so. I'm bored so I don't care if I do get banned after this since I have 2 other phats and a slim on standby....here we gooo....

So just to be clear the steps you took were:
1. Flashed to the original firmware.
2.Updated Xbox Live
3.Reflashed your xbox making it possible to read your backups again.
4. Are enjoying playing your backed up games on xbox live and are currently not banned.
Thanks for your help in advance.
