-Problem
How do I fix it without microsoft customer support, or something completely ridiculous.

-My Current Situation
I was playing and white bars appeared going vertical, turned off the console turned it back on and now I have one red light (the fourth) and an error report (E 74) on the screen.

-How much I've already figured out
As stated from here---> http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-error-codes.htm
My problem is the AV Cable or ANA/HANA port (which I'm guessing is the port you plug the cable into the xbox.)

-Things you might need to know to help me
I have unplugged all cables, as well as the hardrive, multiple times.
I have had the 3 rings before, as well as the first and third ring, I managed to repair them using the AWESOME forums on this site.......... and youtube.
I do have a "flashed" DVD drive (Hitachi).
I have tried using a HDMI cable and the standard component cable.

If this question/scenario has already been answered please post the link, I didn't feel like looking through the infinite amount of discussions.

Thanks in advance.

Here's W00ly's guide :
http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/how_i_fix_rrod_360s_video-832706/

It's help me out with those dang E74 errors. You might want to 12 volt mod your fans if you're running an older 360 to prevent it from doing it again. It's makes your 360 sound like a jet, but it keeps it cool. Good Luck.

Thanks for showing me woolys guide, and to be honost, hairdrying the motherboard was part of that ridiculous category, but this should be interesting to try out. I'll message back if it works.

If you do it right, the heat gun method works very well. A hairdryer doesn't let the solder get to it's threshold level of turning to liquid. However, a heat gun does it effortlessly, so be careful and follow the guide closely. 99% of the time it works without any problems. Make sure to give it an ample amount of time to cool down before you put the heatsinks back on. It's suggested to use arctic silver 5. It's what I use and I haven't had any problems with it.

A heatgun is definitely NOT a hairdryer. If you used a heatgun on your head you'd burn your scalp and set your hair on fire

I know it's different, I was just saying hairdryer since it sounds funnier, I'm picking up a heatgun today.

By the way can you help me with a fan problem.

About a year ago I had the overheating problem (1st and 3rd light), so I looked around at my xbox open, and I realized that the stock fans weren't spinning, just the ones in the intercooler I got like 3 years ago. So I checked the wiring, no cracks or extreme bends. Turns out the plastic which the red, black, blue, and brown wires connected to wasn't working so I cut the wires from it and ran them through the holes in the back to the intercooler, and then spliced them into the power supply. Thus making the Intercooler part of my xbox. Since I took my xbox apart to heatflow it, I've been thinking of how to remove the intercooler from my xbox.

So should I-
Buy a new plastic clip/fans.
Power the fans from a different source on the motherboard.
Keep the Intercooler.
or
Something else

Stuff you might need to know-
I don't have the small plastic piece any more.
The stock fans do work.
When I disconnect all the fans, and plug the power cable directly into the xbox, it still turns on.
I have replaced the xclamps, with the screws and washers, and the compost, with arctic silver, from when I had the 3 red lights.

Personally if you've had overheating I'd wire them to 12v from here

Some people prefer to get it from the DVD power, which should be ok, but I'd rather do it at the source where it would make the least difference on other components downstream...plus those pads are super easy to solder to

Just making sure, I solder the red and brown wires to all or one of the 12V you marked. Then the black and blue wires to one or both of the grounds?

Since the wires from the fan wont stretch that far what I do is take a longer jumper wire, solder both brown and red to one end of the wire and the other end to the 12v point. Repeat with blue and black for ground. This way you only have to solder 2 wires at the plug instead of 4

Thanks, I already put extensions on them and merged them together, I just wasn't sure to attach to one or all. The fans work now. I haven't got to heatflow, I was going to get the heatgun, but I'm in Michigan near Detroit and the arctic blast made the roads terrible, so that will have to be tomorrow I hope.

W00ly I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! and anyone else who has been helping with this XBox E74 error. At first I had my doubts about this working I mean after all who would have though that using a (hair dryer) heat gun would be used in this manner. My sons XBox display 1 red light and E74 error on the day before christmas so I though what the heck its not working so what could it hurt to try it. Thanks to you and your site my son now has a christmas miracle on Dec 25th at 2:30AM CST and we've nick named his console the Phoenix (for obvious reasons). I took the time to sign up as a member to your site just so I could write how excelent your fix worked. I followed the video to the letter (more like a hawk) and then the surgery began and 1 hour and 45 minutes later we crossed our finger and it fired right up with no problems. I wanted to make sure that everyone knows that this fix DOES truely work. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Glad my tutorial worked out for you guys. Heat gunning does kinda seem like a weird thing to do but once you realize what's going on it makes sense. Enjoy and Merry Christmas :)
