I have recently bought a flashed xbox with 3 light. I have done the xclamp fix and i now have 2 lights. I have doubke checked all 8 bolts are tight.

When i try to power the xbox, since i done xclamp the 2 lights come on fan kicks in high speed for about 5 seconds and goes off all it does is flash 2 lights.

When i took it apart someone had a go at the xclamp before and made a mes of the job. There were no nylon washers on the board. Could something be cooked?

Does the fresh thermal paste need to be heated up to make a good thermal connection between the CPU and Gpu and heatsinks?

How many washers are you using and are they the thick #10 nylon washers or the thinner ones? I only use 2 of the thin ones (or 1 thick one) on the top side between heatsink and motherboard. Check to make sure they're all tightened down evenly as well because sometimes the thread on the screw may catch on the washer and may not let it go down all the way. You dont have to preheat the thermal paste but make sure you dont have too much (or not enough). Basically just need enough so that you cant see the surface of the chip die and that you have a good imprint of the chip on the heatsink when you remove it.

I use a bolt on the underside of the board split washer on the top of the board a nylon and a metal washer on top of the nylon.

I have used this method for a few xboxes with no problems.

I since stripped it back down revomed heatsinks and rebolted them down. Now it will run for about 5 mins and go off when restart flashes 2 lights again. Air coming out of vent is not hot enough to be overheating.

Also

When i tried rebolted it down first attempt tried power it and went straight off what could cause this?(Green light come on and off as soon as i let the button go.) Took heatsinks off again rebolted and problem above.

Thanks

You're using a split washer then a nylon washer and then metal on the top side? That sounds like it's too tall to make good contact with the chips. Do you have a nice rectangular imprint of the thermal paste on the heatsink when you look at it?

As far as the turning on then immediately off that sounds like a short somewhere. Dont bolt directly to the motherboard, use one of the thin #10 nylon washers in between and dont use metal washers in direct contact with the board either.

On the bottom of the board i have 1 split washer.
On the top 1 nylon on the board and 1 metal on the nylon one.

Theres a good imprint when i take the heatsink off.

Try using nylon on the bottom side too. Also make sure none of the little prongs around the USB and other connectors are folded under, I've seen that happen before. Hopefully that'll fix the problem of it shutting off immediately.

If that doesnt work try simply placing the heatsinks on the chips without screws/washers and see what happens. Try cpu only first because 0011 is cpu overheating. Be sure it's inside the lines that outline where the heatsinks go on the motherboard and it's sitting flat. If it's still giving you 0011 you could try a reflow (see link in my sig). If even that doesnt work, worst case scenario you could get a multimeter that has a thermocouple ($20 from home depot), measure the temperature and see if it's actually overheating. If it's not then you could just cut the temperature sensor trace (but that's really a last ditch effort)

Tried taking and putting it back together so might need to have a reflow. Keeps changing error from either 0011 or 0102.
