when I powered on my xbox 360, I had no video on the screen. 2 minutes later, the system starts up but the video gm was in black and white. finally after 3 more minutes the rrod appears and the error code was 0022. does anyone know anything about this error code? Is this box a dud? will heatgun fix work on this? any help will be deeply appreciated.

0022 is bridged solder joint/Short in GPU/HANA. I would start by removing the x-clamps and flushing under gpu/cpu/hana with an eyedropper with flux or at least some rubbing alcohol to get rid of any tin wiskers. Then yea reflow with heatgun and do an x-clamp fix with the proper spacing/washers and you should be good to go

I did a heatgun fix. I cleaned the processors w/ 91% Alcohol. The xbox froze on me. I put a fan on the outside and put it on high. it froze again.. I let I sit for bout 30 min. and put the fan on low and it played for over 4 hrs.

what kind of heatgun did you use? And did you flush under the chips between the chip and motherboard?

and when I say flush underneath, I mean on the top part of the board, underneath the chip where it's mounted to the motherboard. Take an eye dropper and put it in between the chip and the motherboard...there should be several spaces in the epoxy around the edge of the chip. You're trying to flush out the "tin whiskers" that can cause the short. They're like little metal dust bunnies and can bridge connections under the chip. Jeatgunning can liquify them which is probably why the system started in the first place but they may still be there which would explain why it froze

so my 1st question Is do I have to remove the processor and 2nd if I don't den do I just go around and 3rd if the heatgun liquified the tin whiskers would they have melted up under the processor and be stuck?

no you dont remove the processor itself just the heatsinks. You'll notice the chips are held on by epoxy, just flush with an eye dropper in between those. As far as the tin whiskers liquifying if they attached it was probably to the wire that it was originally on, not the one it bridged to so that may be ok (and why the system started) but you still want to flush them out to get any ones that didnt liquify out. Also flushing under the HANA chip is good too. Last, be sure to use the proper amount of washers on your x-clamp fix: if you're not drilling through the case do 1 1mm thick washer on the bottom (for a total of 3mm if your screws have 2mm heads, very important) and 2 1mm thick washers on the top between the heatsink and motherboard.

hana chip is the chip directly below the gpu (with the fan port facing you). Yes by flush it I mean squirt alcohol underneath it. Be sure to let it dry out
